So if we need to stay representative, why do donor sports like break dancing and gymnastics contribute

so well to grappling?

What do you mean by contribute?

Those are not donor sports under the Athletic Skills Model, where the concept originates in the ecological approach. They do fit into an overall long-term development of variable and diverse motor skill learning, though.

People who have any sports, but especially gymnastics, pick up grappling much faster than those who don't.

Why aren't they donor sports? When I read athletic skills model they described judo as being a donorsport for soccer. So what's the difference here?

You're right, my memory failed me. You have to analyze the sports on the BMS scale to understand what might transfer or influence.

Bear in mind this is physical education from early childhood through teenaged years. It doesn't have to do with how to structure grappling lessons specifically.

why would you assume physical education (ie motor skill development)is separate from grappling training?

We need a wide varied athletic base from which to peak. it can impact grappling sessions because we ought to be holistic in our training plans.

you're right, I'm not talking about structuring grappling lessons(havent been the whole time). I'm talking about how representativeness isn't required by ecological dynamics (though it is a part of CLA), because things like donor sports exist and clearly have a significant impact on one's ability to acquire skill
